Seán Osborne F.G.A., D.G.A.

Sean Osborne has been making high end bespoke jewellery in Dublin's Temple Bar since 1997. He trained in London's Guildhall University and went on to produce objet d'art for Asprey of Bond Street, London. Sean is a qualified gemmologist and diamond grader making him one of only two Goldsmiths/gemmologists working in Ireland today.

Sean has many high profile clients including U2, Gavin Friday, Bill Cullen and Jackie Lavin. Bono recently commissioned Sean to make a special piece for each of The Dubliners and was also recently commissioned by Bill Keary to create a piece marking Adi Roche's twenty-five years in Chernobyl.

Sean produced the metal-work for the film Angela's Ashes and also created the wedding ring for Julianne Moore's character in the film Laws of Attraction. Upon completion of the film, the ring that featured was presented by Pierce Brosnan as a gift to Moore.

In 2010 Sean produced the gothic style jewellery for Sean Penn's character in the film This Must be the Place. Sean was contacted by the production team to create jewellery specifically for Penn's character.

The fun part of this project was that Penn himself was providing the details on what his character would wear. As Penn embraced his role and developed his interpretation of the character, he made changes and amendments to the ring designs as appropriate albeit at short notice! Sean's expertise and passion for creativity meant that even these last minute design changes as well as the limited time available did not impact on the quality of the pieces produced. For the film Sean created eight silver rings featuring rubies for Sean Penn's character and two silver nose-rings for Eve Hewson's character.

Two of the rings used in the film This Must be the Place are pictured here.

They are silver and 18 carat gold rings set with 4 carat lab grown brilliant cut rubies and 3 point D/flawless diamonds

DESIGNER

Seán designs and makes platinum, gold and silver jewellery. The pieces are normally one-off commissions. Seán works closely with his clients, taking into consideration the possibility of the materials used, to produce a personally designed piece, subtly imbued with Seáns' own style.

GOLDSMITH

Trained in Londons' Guildhald University as a Goldsmith. Seán went on to produce objects d'art for Asprey of Bond Street. He now works from Dublin, creating his internationally award winning designs whilst also lecturing at the 'National College of Art and Design' and 'The Liberties College Dublin'.

GEMMOLOGIST

Seán is a Fellow of the Gemmological Association F.G.A. and a trained diamond grader D.G.A. Seán is one of three of the most highly trained Gemmologists in Ireland, and as such is qualified to gauge a gem's worth for Insurance purposes. His knowledge of gems places him a unique position to blend the aesthetic of the stone with the materials used. He is now firmly established as one of Irelands' leading Goldsmiths and Gemmologists.
